Photography

Welcome to my photo gallery. I’d like to highlight some of my images here.

I’ve enjoyed cameras and making pictures since I was a kid. From anticipating rolls of slides being developed into a finished product to sitting in front of a monitor with Lightroom trying to accomplish the same thing, it’s fun to watch what I’ve visualized blossom into reality.

While technical skill and modern equipment have improved the capturing process, nothing can replace pre-visualizing the light and scene, and being there at the right time. Clicking the shutter with the right settings is the easy part. Getting to that point, with planning, positioning, and seeing the light, is what separates great photographers from the amateur.

I’m an amateur. With more gear than I deserve. As with any hobby, we get out of it what we put into it. I have the gear to make technical photos. But, I need to work on seeing the light and being in the right place to move up to the next level. Focusing on light, and not gear, will get me there. It will for you, too.

f/8 and be there,

~ Toby
